Sunday (movie)

Sunday follows the life of the popular singer Jay Ramadanovski from an early age to his first steps in music industry. Jay is a boy from Dorcol suburb, incredibly charming and generous. As he was noble in his intentions, but stubborn in final outcome, he spent a great part of his youth in juvenal detention, where our story actually begins. Jay is at home on Sundays when the entire family gathers. Suppressed sorrow is the trigger for his motivation to become someone. Jay doesn’t even know how to become someone, or what he wants to do. Singing is just a casual entertainment. The story focuses on period from 1976 to 1992. Jay is the storyteller who guides us not only thorough his life, but through life in Dorcol at that time. That world is wealthy, funny, sad and happy, full of life and spirit. He spends most of the time on the streets. The street is more important to him than school, or home. He grew up on the streets, the street raised him, that’s the place where he was solving his moral dilemmas, finding friends and losing love. Jay had a pretty rough childhood. He was often dismissed and rejected by society, his acquaintances, even by his closest family. However his strong, cheerful and unflinching spirit wasn’t broken; his difficult childhood later determined his music creativity which remained as an authentic legacy. He was spending more time and energy on shell game and Dorcol dice games- Krlec and Barbut. On the streets, he meets Nina, a blond girl, Dorcol princess who will sweep him off his feet before he finally finds the love of his life, a Roma woman Nadica whom he married and had kids with. Jay meets Marina Tucakovic and Futa while he is keeping company to his friend who was supposed to sell them some jackets. That’s when Marina and Futa hear Jay singing for the first time and become entirely infatuated with him. Since 1987 his career and popularity were rising, but Jay’s character stayed the same, while on the other hand, everybody around him changed. The relationship between Jay and his brother Isa lere Jambo, one of the leading tough guys, who later disappeared off the face of the earth, is particularly emphasized. For Jay, his family was a core that emanated everything and the essence of this film is a family drama depicted through its dysfunction in order to finally reconnect.
